Quality Analyst

What you will enjoy doing

  • Quality Assurance & Laboratory Testing:
  • Perform sampling, testing, and analysis in accordance with approved Quality Plans and testing procedures.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and testing instruments e,g, Gas Chromatography (GC), Moisture Analysers, Intrinsic Viscosity (IV) measurement devices, COD testing equipment, and other analytical instruments.
  • Interpret test data and chromatograms to identify trends, deviations, and non-conformances.
  • Conduct bale inspections to verify incoming material quality.
  • Perform routine equipment verifications, calibrations, and proficiency testing to ensure testing accuracy and reliability.
  • Generate, analyse, and communicate quality results in a timely manner, escalating quality concerns where necessary.
  • Identify, segregate  and communicate non-conforming materials and products.
  • Ensure compliance with quality procedures, standards, and work instructions.
  • Collaborate closely with Production teams to ensure that the  products consistently meet quality requirements.
  • Participate in investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action processes related to quality incidents.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment while adhering to all laboratory and plant safety requirements
  • General:
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems and certifications.
  • Promote quality awareness throughout the plant through knowledge sharing, coaching, and training initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at enhancing product quality, process efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating ALPLA values and supporting a culture of accountability, compliance, and excellence.

What makes you great

  • Diploma or Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a laboratory, quality assurance, FMCG, plastics packaging, recycling, or rPET manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with analytical laboratory equipment and quality testing methods is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of analytical testing methods and laboratory practices.
  • Familiarity with Gas Chromatography (GC), Moisture Analysis, IV Measurement, COD Testing, and related laboratory equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of quality management systems and standards, including ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, and ISO 14001.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in English and isiZulu with strong interpersonal skills.
