
Shift Electrical Technician
What you will enjoy doing
- Allocated a section of plant to maintain high equipment availability and housekeeping.
- Responsible for plant wide maintenance activities during shifts/shutdown/breakdown/etc.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards, and company policies.
- Manage section spares and usage, scoping of work, execution and reporting.
- Supervise/lead assistants and contractors.
- Perform regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective actions.
- Systematic approach to trouble shooting and fault finding and formulate trouble shooting guide.
- Consult equipment manuals and ensure machines are always maintained in accordance with the prescribed procedures and works instructions.
- Read and interpret Engineering & Electrical drawings and P&I diagrams.
- Understanding of analogue and digital signals.
- Understanding of PID control and Applications
- Strong understanding of instrumentation (Flow meters, pressure sensors, level sensors, temperature sensors, PH, Conductivity and turbidity)
- Plants include (plastic) processing, blowing, conveying, producing, extruding and storage, utilities, water treatment, facilities, etc.
- Overhauling and repairs to equipment.
- Basic fabrication and rigging.
- Work closely with the production team to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency
- Document all maintenance activities and repairs.
- Execute equipment fitting, installations, changes and repairs.
- Basic understanding of PLC control and wiring.
- Knowledge of VSD's, DOL's and star/Delta control.
- Basic knowledge of networking protocol (Profinet, Profibus)

- Millwright or Electrical and Mechanical Trade Certificate (Essential)
- Full N5 Engineering certificate or higher
- Higher engineering qualification is advantageous
- Matric Certificate
