Shift Mechanical Technician

What you will enjoy doing

Allocated a section of plant to maintain high equipment availability and housekeeping.
Responsible for plant wide maintenance activities during shifts/shutdown/breakdown/etc.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards, and company policies.
Manage section spares and usage, scoping of work, execution and reporting.
Supervise/lead assistants and contractors.
Perform regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective actions.
Systematic approach to trouble shooting and fault finding and formulate trouble shooting guide.
Consult equipment manuals and ensure machines are always maintained in accordance with the prescribed procedures and works instructions.
Drawing interpretation.
Work closely with the production team to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.
Document all maintenance activities and repairs.
Execute equipment fitting, installations, changes and repairs.
Equipment includes (and not limited to) pumps, valves, gearboxes, motors, knives, screws, etc.
Plants include (plastic) processing, blowing, conveying, producing, extruding and storage, utilities, water treatment, facilities, etc.
Overhauling and repairs to equipment.
Basic fabrication and rigging.
Prepared to work shifts, overtime and standby.

Knowledge and experienced in hydraulics and pneumatics.
Understanding of production performance metrics, 5S and Health & Safety practices
Root cause analysis techniques and application.
Ability to work independently to tight deadlines and proactive work ethic.
Willingness to work in a challenging environment.
Decision making, planning, coordinating, communicating, documenting and reporting.
Precision and detail oriented.
Use of power and hand tools and measuring instruments.
Endeavour for continuous improvement.
Fitting or Fitting and Turning Trade Certificate (Essential)
Full N3 Mechanical Engineering
Higher engineering qualification will be advantageous
Matric Certificate
At least 5 years' post apprenticeship experience
At least 2 years' supervisory experience
Experienced in the Manufacturing Industry
Valid Code 08 (Code B) Driver's License
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Own transport.
