Plant Controller

MAIN PURPOSE
The job holder acts as the business partner functioning as the link between the plants and the financial management team as well as business. The plant controller will be responsible for plant level accounts, cost controlling, inventory management, eMis reporting, cost analysis and system audits and support to the Finance team as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Planning and Finance on cost and plant accounting policies, procedures and requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely transaction processing, including adherence to internal controls and month-end cut-off requirements.
- Support the Accounting team with correct General Ledger cost allocations and month-end closing entries.
- Assist Operations and Supply Chain with stock counts, inventory transactions, reconciliations, write-offs, BOMs, variance analysis and consumption reporting.
- Monitor plant costs against budgets and provide analysis and recommendations on cost deviations and margin tolerances.
- Verify material consumption and ensure accurate and regularly reviewed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual plant reporting, budgets, costing schedules and work centre costs.
- Perform stock revaluations and maintain accurate costing information.
- Provide site cost analysis to support Finance, Operations and Commercial decision-making.
- Partner with Commercial and CTO Controllers to support cost recovery and business performance.
- Provide the Controlling Manager with insights into key performance indicators and cost variances.
- Ensure plants comply with internal control policies and procedures and support continuous improvement of controls.
- Monitor master data accuracy and integrity.
- Maintain effective collaboration between Finance and Operations to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and month-end closure.
What makes you great
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- A tertiary qualification in Management Accounting is required.
- 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail with the ability to work independently and assertively.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly and make informed decisions in challenging situations.
