Project Engineer

What you will enjoy doing

  • Designs layouts of downstream equipment
  • Assist in specifying new production downstream equipment including researching of available providers, determination of specifications, obtaining quotations, recommending purchases, performing factory-acceptance-tests, arranging installation, completing startup, training, and performance qualification
  • Takes innovative approaches to optimize production downstream processes. Investigates existing downstream equipment and processes for ongoing continuous improvement in the areas of quality, cost, throughput, reduced change-over time, efficiency, and workflow
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
  • Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
  • Identify and negotiate with other Internal functional areas for required personnel
  • Track project milestones and deliverables
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Ensures correct information for quotations
    • Cost
    • Feasibility
    • Cycle time estimation
    • Efficiencies
    • Machine and mold configuration
    • Secondary packaging layout
  • Maintains updated information regarding assigned projects and manages portions of projects or sub-projects
  • Other duties as assigned

What makes you great


  • Min 2 year Degree (Associates) in related field or equivalent, 4 year Degree (Bachelor) preferred; Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Technical Engineering background
  • Mechanical and electrical skills
  • 3 to 5 years experience as a Downstream Engineer position in production, preferably within plastics industry
  • Knowledge of packaging systems
  • Ability to create engineering drawings
  • Experience with Microsoft Office


  • Good organizational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and skills
  • Thorough understanding of technical aspects of different types of equipment
  • Travel within the US up to 35% is expected
